As we get older we spend more and more time at home so having family and friends visit and spending time doing what you love becomes an important part of life. This audit looks at all issues that relate to having visitors in your home, pursing hobbies and accessing needed community facilities.
Social Interaction
Social Interaction relates to you being able to access community facilities, public transport and essential services without difficulty in a safe and easily accessible way.
This part of this audit also relates to having a "visitable" home, which means a home that is accessible to friends and family that may have a disability. As we age so do our friends and the ability to have a person with a disability visit us in our own home becomes a real issue.
Part of being able to remain in your own home and community as you age is receiving needed support and assistance from family, friends and other external support services. In this day and age of WPHS rules and regulations your home needs to be a safe environment for carers and others to provide you with the services you require to maintain your health, safety and independence.
These issues are all included in this Social Interaction section of this audit.
Recreation
The recreation section of this audit looks at all those things around your home that may prevent you from doing the things you love to do.
You may be an avid gardener that needs access to the garden shed or someone who enjoys sewing but have trouble with the lighting over your favourite chair.
Whatever your hobbies are your home can assist you perform these pastimes easily and enjoyable. There are a myriad of different things you can do around your home to ensure you will be able to enjoy your hobbies for years to come.
